Economic Laws Practice has added international arbitration pro Karam Advani as a partner in Mumbai, adding to its dispute resolution capabilities and strengthening its international network.

Advani brings over two decades of experience in international commercial arbitration having represented global corporates particularly in the construction, infrastructure, and oil and gas sectors.

Previously at Advani & Company, he spent five years earlier in his career as a foreign counsel at Rajah & Tann’s Singapore office. In that role, Advani was part of the team that spearheaded the growth of the South Asia desk, building a strong network of clients across sectors. He also spent a year as head of operations at Singapore-based litigation funder Profile Investments.

Advani becomes ELP’s third lateral partner hire this year following former Ola Electric general counsel Sanjit Nagarkatti in Bengaluru, and capital markets partner Geeta Dhania, who joined with her team from Luthra and Luthra Law Offices earlier this month in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“In addition to his disputes experience, with his global experience Karam will also play a role in further strengthening our firm’s international network,” said Suhail Nathani, ELP’s managing partner, in a statement.
