Gurugram-headquartered law firm Antares Legal has turned to Luthra and Luthra Law Offices for a second time in three months to expand its partnership, this time by adding Navin Syiem as a partner in its corporate/M&A and private equity practices in Delhi. 

In December, Antares had hired Ankit Jain from Luthra as a partner in its disputes practice. Earlier in the same year, the firm added former Luthra partner Krishnayan Sen to strengthen its disputes and insolvency practice. 

Syiem brings over 25 years of experience in advising on M&A, private equity deals, and strategic corporate advisory, His expertise includes multi-currency and multi-sourced financings, domestic and cross-border acquisitions, cross-border investments, multi-jurisdictional M&A, finance and security package structuring.

He has specific experience in acting on transactions in emerging markets across sectors, including infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, banking and finance, technology and financial services. Additionally, he has experience in clean energy financings.

He started his career with stints at AZB & Partners, Trilegal and as an in-house counsel at GE Commercial Finance, before shifting to Afridi & Angell and then Ashurst in Dubai. Syiem moved back to India in 2010, joining the partnership at Hemant Sahai Associates (HSA) as part of the firm short-lived merger with fellow Indian firm Paras Kuhad & Associates. He then jumped to IndusLaw as part of a seven-lawyer group move in 2016. His three-member team then moved from Indus to Luthra in 2020. 

With Syiem’s arrival, Antares Legal now has nine partners across its Gurgaon, New Delhi, and Bangalore offices. The firm launched in Bengaluru last year with the addition of transactions lawyer Sindhushree Gadasalli
