Indian law firm IndusLaw has hired a second partner in a week with the addition of Kaushik Mukherjee as an equity partner along with his team in the firm’s Mumbai-based capital markets practice group.

Mukherjee was previously the legal head of Samman Capital (formerly known as Indiabulls Housing Finance), prior to which he held partner roles at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, BMR Legal and JSA Advocates & Solicitors. He was also an associate at White & Case’s London office.

Mukherjee has over two decades of experience across capital markets, public M&A, structured finance, real estate project financing, and securities advisory. He and his team have regularly advised both issuers and underwriters on equity and debt issuances, including initial public offerings, qualified institutions placements, public issues and private placements of debentures, as well as international issuances of bonds and InvITs.

“His diverse experience in both law firms and strategic in-house roles, combined with his expertise in capital markets and public M&A, will bring immense value to our clients and enable us to grow our capital markets practice further,” said Gaurav Dani and Suneeth Katarki, Induslaw’s founding partners, in a statement.

Mukherjee's recruitment represents a significant step in rebuilding IndusLaw's capital markets practice, following the departure of a 50-member team led by Manan Lahoty to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas earlier this year.

He becomes IndusLaw’s fourth partner hire this year, and second this month following the addition of Nitika Jain in Mumbai. The firm rebuilt its employment practice with the addition of Debjani Aich in Bengaluru, and brought back corporate lawyer Siddharth Manchanda in Mumbai after a two-year stint as general counsel at edtech company Unacademy.
