Indian law firm IndusLaw has been rocked with another team departure, as real estate partner Avikshit Moral takes his team of six attorneys to S&R Associates in Mumbai, S&R confirmed.

Moral will be joined by associates Mahek Chheda, Preeti Dhar, Khushbu Goyal, Komal Pandey and Shaunak Deshpande.

This follows a sixty-lawyer capital markets team leaving the firm to join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, a four-lawyer disputes team led by Padmaja Kaul leaving for JSA Advocates & Solicitors, two employment partners moving to Khaitan & Co, and a ten-lawyer M&A team moving to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.

Apart from these, AZB & Partners and SAM have hired tax and corporate partners, respectively, from IndusLaw this year. However, IndusLaw also hired a team of disputes lawyers from Luthra & Luthra Law Offices this year, apart from welcoming back a corporate partner from an in-house role at Unacademy.

Moral has over 15 years of experience in advising clients on conveyancing, real estate financing, title diligence, joint ventures, succession planning, investor protection laws, structured transactions and related commercial laws.

He has led several high value acquisitions of prime real estate for domestic and offshore clients across various cities in India. He has also acted as transaction lawyer for several investors for their investments in construction related activities.

Moral is S&R’s second hire in as many months, with Economic Laws Practice partner Aakanksha Joshi joining the firm last month.
