Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India has added to its intellectual property capabilities after hiring Megha Gulati as a partner-designate in its Delhi office. Gulati was previously a principal associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.

Gulati brings over 17 years of experience in handling a variety of IP matters, with a particular focus on patent law. She advises domestic and international clients on strategies across all stages of the patent lifecycles. She specialises in conducting prior art searches, facilitating freedom to operate analyses, performing patentability assessments, filing patent applications, and managing oppositions before the Indian Patent Office and appeals before various High Courts.

She has particular IP experience in biotechnology, genetics, medical devices, chemical sciences, pharmaceuticals, atomic energy, mechanical sciences, electronics and telecom, software, and wind energy sectors.

India in 2023 experienced a record year in terms of patent filings and grants as per the latest international and government indicators, signalling an increase in innovation-driven growth in the country, and a rise in demand for technically savvy lawyers.

Luthra managing partner Harry Chawla said the firm is looking to continue its IP growth in coming years.

The firm also expanded in Hyderabad and Bengaluru last month.
