Indian law firm S&R Associates has appointed Aparna Ravi as a retained partner in its Mumbai office from Samvad Partners in Benbgaluru. Her new role will begin July 1.

Ravi's practice focuses on banking and finance, private credit and restructuring. She advises financial institutions, alternative finance providers, private equity firms and companies on financing transactions, including acquisition financing, structured finance, refinancing, venture debt, restructuring and insolvency resolution.

Ravi has also advised on mergers and acquisitions and foreign investment matters across various sectors. She was a member of the government-appointed Bankruptcy Law Reforms Committee that drafted the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in 2016.

Before joining Samvad in 2016, Ravi worked in an in-house role at Credit Suisse in London and law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York and London.

She becomes S&R Associates' first lateral partner hire since it added tax specialist Ajinkya Gunjan Mishra in Delhi from Luthra and Luthra Law Offices.

The firm now has around 140 lawyers, including 40 partners, across offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. It recently lost banking and finance partner Divyanshu Pandey to JSA in Delhi
