Fox & Mandal has become the latest Indian law firm to bolster its capital markets offering, with the addition of Timothy Franklyn as national practice head and deputy managing partner from Tatva Legal.

Franklyn, who joins in Bengaluru, brings nearly two decades of experience in capital markets and corporate finance.  He spent most of his early career at international law firms, including Jones Day, Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman), and DLA Piper, before moving to Tatva Legal as a partner in 2018

With experience working in New Delhi, Singapore, and Hong Kong, Franklyn has advised governments, corporations and global investment banks on various international corporate finance transactions. His expertise encompasses Regulation S and Rule 144A securities offerings, initial public offerings, high-yield bond offerings, follow-on public offerings, qualified institutional placements, medium-term note programmes, foreign currency convertible bond offerings and going-private transactions.

Franklyn's addition marks Fox & Mandal’s second capital markets partner hire in about eight months, following the addition of Shantan Mitra to lead and develop the securities and capital markets practice in Kolkata in June of the previous year.

India's bullish market sentiment resulted in a record number of filings on bourses last year, prompting multiple firms to expand their services and launch new capital markets offerings. Notably, firms such as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, AZB & Partners, Trilegal, Talwar Thakore & Associates, Saraf and Partners and IndusLaw all expanded their offerings.  Meanwhile, Economic Laws Practice launched its capital markets practice in 2024.
