Indian law firm J. Sagar Associates has continued its aggressive expansion with the addition of real estate partner Brijita Prakash (L) and corporate partner Santosh Vijay in Bengaluru, making it six partner hires in just over a month for the firm.

Prakash joins from DSK Legal along with a team of seven fee-earners. She has represented top developers and builders in Karnataka, including Prestige Estates, Brigade Enterprises, and Godrej Properties, and advises on matters related to title, urban development, and regulatory compliance within the real estate sector.

She also specialises in Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA) related licensing, compliance, and disputes.

Meanwhile Vijay joins from Krishnamurthy & Co (K Law), in the same week a Mumbai-based disputes quartet from K Law moved to JSA.

Vijay, who was a counsel at K Law, specialises in private equity and venture capital deals, particularly in the start-up space. He recently advised Bengaluru-based pharma company Strides Pharma Sciences the $15 million sale of its Singapore manufacturing facility.

With the addition of Prakash, Vijay and Rakesh Warrier last month, JSA now has 21 partners in Bengaluru, one of the largest offerings for a pan-national firm in the city.

Other recent hires for JSA included former Trilegal counsel Anurag Shrivastav, and disputes pro Harshavardhan Abburi.

Law firms have been expanding their presence in India’s Silicon Valley in the past year. Emerald LawStratage Law Partners, and Wadia Ghandy & Co have all launched Bengaluru outposts in recent times, while AZB & PartnersCyril Amarchand MangaldasKhaitan & Co,  and Economic Law Practice have all expanded their presence in the city.
