Kochhar & Co has recruited real estate expert Mohan Kumar as a senior partner in Hyderabad from Tatva Legal.

With more than two decades of experience, Kumar advises on real estate matters such as investment involving major land and property transfers, registration, stamp duty assessments, documentation, title due diligence, and liaising with governmental and regulatory authorities on realty projects and property development.

Kumar joined Tatva Legal in 2020 as a principal associate and became a partner in 2021. Previously, he was at J Sagar Associates for more than 13 years.

Demand for real estate lawyers has been on the rise in India as that sector continues to expand. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas recently hired Siddharth Vedula in Mumbai, while AZB & Partners welcomed back Ruchit Parikh from Trilegal in Mumbai and Malini Raju from J Sagar Associates in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, both Trilegal and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas hired AZB real estate partners in the form of Monika Bhonsle and Rohit Bajaj, respectively.

And last year, Saraf and Partners merged with real estate boutique SRGR Law Offices, while a group of Saraf real estate lawyers left to set up Emerald Law Offices.
