Bengaluru-headquartered law firm Poovayya & Co has launched a dedicated data protection practice group after welcoming back former Interpol cybercrime counsel Harini Sudersan to head the team.

In her role, Sudersan will lead the firm’s data protection, privacy, artificial intelligence and technology practice group. She was earlier a principal associate at Poovayya during her previous stint at the firm that lasted more than four years.

Sudersan was most recently an independent consultant and also part of the founding team at mindful productivity app ZEN-it, where she served as general counsel. Prior to this, she spent five years as a Singapore-based counsel in the cybercrime unit at Interpol.

She becomes Poovayya’s first partner hire since the firm added Ankit Parhar to its Delhi office in November last year. Since then, it has lost disputes partner Mrinal Shankar to AZB & Partners and corporate partner Arindam Basu to Luthra and Luthra Law Offices.
