Lalu John Philip, a former transactions partner at J Sagar Associates, has left to start his own firm in Bengaluru called Boolean Legal.

The new firm will specialise in venture capital financing, sell-side M&A, and regulatory work in the technology space.

Philip spent about a decade at JSA, becoming a partner in 2021. Previously, he was at Luthra & Luthra Law Offices.

As India’s legal industry grows, lawyers are leaving established firms to set up their own ventures. In 2023 alone, the likes of T&A, Counsel & Council, Legal Scriptures, Unum Law, Sarvagya Legal, Kumar & Sardana Associates, First Principles Advocates, YVR Law Offices, and Aendri Legal launched in India.
