Indian cross-border M&A boutique Touchstone Partners has significantly bolstered its capabilities in Mumbai with the addition of two partners from leading firms: Anirudh Agarwala (L) has joined from Trilegal, and Pranay Bagdi from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Agarwala will also manage the firm’s Mumbai office. He specialises in private equity and structured transactions and specialises in advising funds and strategic investors on their investments and acquisitions in India.

A partner at Trilegal since 2019, Agarwala’s client list includes Blackstone, Bain Capital, Goldman Sachs, Oaktree Capital, and Huhtamaki.

Bagdi has been a partner in CAM’s corporate practice group since 2021. He advises on cross-border transactions, private equity and venture capital deals, particularly in the financial service, education and consumer sectors.

The firm now has eight partners across offices in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru.

Agarwala’s exit also marks a rare partner departure for Trilegal, which hired over 16 lateral partners in 2023. This hiring spree continued into 2024 with the addition of former Goldman Sachs senior exec Pallavi Banerjee in its banking and finance practice in February.

The 117-partner Trilegal did lose counsel Ruchit Parikh to AZB & Partners earlier this year.
