Luthra and Luthra Law Offices became the latest large Indian law firm to enter the Chennai market, the firm's fifth office nationally.

In a statement, Luthra cited "the firm's commitment to fortifying its foothold in South India and bolstering its support for the burgeoning team and clientele in the region." The office marks the firm's first major expansion since its merger with Atlas Law Partners in August.

A number of large Indian law firms grew their presence in Chennai last year. AZB & Partners launched an office after hiring from J Sagar Associates, and then JSA rebounded through a local law firm merger. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas also doubled its partner strength in the coastal capital.

The Luthra office is set to open on March 1. Details about office leaders and size will be announced in the coming weeks, a firm spokesperson said.
