Asim Abbas, a former partner of Luthra and Luthra Law Offices specialising in TMT, has left the firm to establish his own technology boutique in Delhi.

The new firm, Spectra Law, offers advice on technology matters such as telecommunication, broadcasting, e-commerce, data protection, cyber security, gaming, cloud-based services, fintech, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.

Abbas, who had been an associate at Luthra more than two decades ago, returned to the firm in 2020 from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, where he had been a partner since 2016. He has also been a partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and Khaitan & Co.

His departure marks Luthra’s third known partner exit since the merger with Atlas Law Partners last August. In November, a projects M&A team in Delhi led by partner Avirup Nag moved to Saraf and Partners, and M&A specialist Sarika Raichur joined Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas in September. Luthra also added two partners in September.
