Indian law firm Saga Legal has added to its presence in Delhi and Bengaluru with a new office in Mumbai. The firm has promoted Ishwar Ahuja to partnership to run the new outpost.

Saga, which was founded in 2016, has four partners across its three offices. The firm picked up partner Neeraj Vyas from Samvad Partners in December last year.

Mumbai is India’s financial capital and headquarters most of India’s legal market, with a particular focus on transactional work, securities regulation, banking and finance, capital markets and dispute resolution.

“The decision to expand into Mumbai is a strategic move to better serve the growing needs of our clients in the region,” said managing partner Gaurav Nair and co-managing partner Sanika Mehra in a statement.

“As a major financial and commercial hub, Mumbai has always been a critical market for many of our clients, and this expansion will allow us to be more responsive and accessible to their evolving legal and regulatory requirements,” they added.

Ahuja, who joined Saga in July 2023 from Phoenix Legal, has nine years of experience in arbitration, litigation, regulatory advisory, and corporate/commercial matters. He has represented media houses, healthcare corporations, and news conglomerates before various courts and tribunals.

“His promotion to partner is well-timed with our expansion and we are looking to further strengthen our leadership as we expand nationally – both through organic and inorganic means,” the statement read.

The firm has also announced the promotion of Shilpa Chaudhary and Antra Ahuja to principal associates, and Sakina Kapadia to senior associate.
