 | STANLEY LAI Chairman Intellectual Property Office of Singapore Stanley specialises in all forms of IP litigation and information technology disputes, and is also a commercial litigator. He also maintains a strong advisory practice for IP management and strategy, serving a broad spectrum of clients. In the biomedical sector, Stanley has substantial experience in advising on healthcare and medical regulatory issues concerning medicines, medical devices, clinical trials, product recalls and product liability. Stanley is currently the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. Stanley is also a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre IP Panel and Singapore Copyright Tribunal, and a director of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (SGX-Listed). He has published extensively on IP and information technology law, including the book entitled “The Copyright Protection of Computer Software in the United Kingdom”, and an article entitled “Publisher reigned in on racing data copyright claim”. Jamesy has also been involved with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) as part of its IP Finance Working Committee relating to the Singapore IP Competency Framework and as a business consultant under IPOS’ SCOPE IP programme. Before joining WIPO in 2011, she worked as Corporate Counsel in a multinational company in Atlanta, United States of America. After working at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center's Geneva office for three years, she moved to Singapore to take up her new role as a representative of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center's Singapore office at Maxwell Chambers. |

 | CANDRA DARUSMAN Deputy Director World Intellectual Property Office - Singapore Mr. Darusman, a national of Indonesia, had previously lived in the former Yugoslavia, Mexico, the former Soviet Union and Switzerland. First joined the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, in April 2001, as Consultant, now he holds the position as the Deputy Director at the WIPO Office in Singapore. Prior to 2001, he was the General Manager of the Indonesian Collective Management Organization (KCI), a position which he held since the establishment of the organization in 1990. He was also the Secretary General of The Indonesian Musicians Foundation (YAMI). He is an economist graduate (SE – PhD. candidate) from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, and from 1982 to 1985 was a researcher, lecturer and served as assistant Professor at the Faculty, specializing on Macroeconomics and Micro economics. From 1986 to1987 he worked as a banker at Citibank and in 1987 he entered into the music production and recording business. From 1987 to 1991 he served as Director to the Indonesian Guild of Composers. From 1994 to 1996 he was appointed a member of the Indonesian National Copyright Council by presidential decree. He served as Director of the Indonesian Musicians Cooperative (KOSMINDO), a small and medium enterprise cooperative with the task of seeking venture capital for artist-entrepreneurs. At the same period Mr. Darusman was also an active member of the Anti-Piracy Coalition of the Indonesian copyright industries. |
 | ERIK WILBERS Director Arbitration and Mediation Center World Intellectual Property Office Erik Wilbers is the Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Maintaining offices in Geneva and Singapore, the WIPO Center provides global services for efficiently resolving technology and intellectual property (IP) disputes without court litigation. Following studies in The United States and The Netherlands, Erik was a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property Law. Before joining WIPO, he practiced with the law firm of Clifford Chance, was on the legal staff of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, and headed a division of the Compensation Commission of the United Nations Security Council. Erik oversees WIPO’s provision of resources to IP stakeholders to help them conclude their disputes in a time- and cost-effective manner. The WIPO Center’s role focuses on the appointment of quality arbitrators, mediators, and experts, and on the safeguarding of the efficiency of the proceedings. WIPO cases mostly concern contractual disputes (e.g. patent licenses, software development, trademark coexistence agreements, pharmaceutical distribution agreements, research and development agreements), and furthermore concern non-contractual disputes, for example in relation to third-party patent infringement. Erik furthermore oversees the management of Internet domain name cases filed with the WIPO Center and the creation of dispute policies in this area. He is also involved in the development of on-line case systems and other methods aimed at increasing the efficiency of dispute resolution. |
