Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has added Lakshmi Rajagopalan, who was the assistant general counsel at B2B e-commerce platform Udaan, as a partner in its financial services and technology practice in Bengaluru.

This is CAM’s second in-house partner hire this month, following the addition of Gayathri Ramachandran from Premji Invest in Bengaluru.

Rajagopalan has over fifteen years of experience in projects, banking and finance and fintech laws. She spent six years at CAM’s Bengaluru office prior to leaving for Udaan in 2021. She also spent four years at the erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff.

Her in-house role focused on managing banking and finance transactions across group entities and managing all legal and regulatory compliance functions from a Reserve Bank of India standpoint for the fintech vertical housing. She also handled regulatory projects and collaborated with senior management on strategic initiatives like equity fundraising and group reorganization.

While at CAM, Rajagopalan has advised various banks, financial institutions, funds, NBFC and investors on financing/debt investments including structured lending in various sectors.

CAM has been one of the strongest in terms of partner hires this year, along with JSA Advocates & Solicitors. Earlier this month, the firm added a four-partner team from Saraf and Partners, led by practice head Manmeet Singh.

The firm also lost two capital markets partners this month, with Janhavi Seksaria moving to AZB & Partners, and Anuj Pethia jumping to JSA.
