From L-R: Aditya Bhargava, Vijay Parthasarathi, Vinay Sirohia, Murtaza Zoomkawala

Indian law firm Trilegal has expanded its capital markets and banking capabilities with the addition of four equity partners across Mumbai and Bengaluru, taking its total partner strength to 130.

Joining the firm’s banking and finance practice in Mumbai is Aditya Bhargava (first from left), who was previously a partner at Phoenix Legal. He advises on a wide range of domestic and cross-border finance deals, with clients, including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Commerzbank. In 2022, Bhargava was named as one of the ALB India Rising Stars.

“His work on complex transactions with a strong focus on debt resource raising and structured finance and securitisation have set market precedents, and he is acknowledged as a market-leading practitioner in this space," said Ameya Khandge, head of the banking and finance practice at Trilegal, in a statement.

The firm added to its banking and finance practice earlier this year with the addition of former Goldman Sachs senior counsel Pallavi Banerjee.

Two capital market partners from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas – Vijay Parthasarathi (second from left) and Vinay Sirohia (second from right) – join Trilegal’s Bengaluru office, while capital markets partner Murtaza Zoomkawala (first from right) joins in Mumbai from Saraf and Partners.

Parthasarathi was the regional co-head of CAM’s markets practice in the southern region. He has over 16 years of experience specialising in IPOs, QIPs, REITs, Rights Issues, domestic and foreign bond issues, public debt issues in India, and advising on flip structures for a potential India listing.

His clients have included Coffee Day Enterprises, Prestige Estates Projects, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, GMR Infrastructure, Brigade Enterprises, Puravankara, Canara Bank, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance, and Indigene.

Sirohia has over 14 years of capital markets experience advising on IPOs, QIPs, high-yield bond issuances and FCCBs. He has advised on transactions in various sectors such as defence, engineering, EMS, FMCG, hospitality, information technology, infrastructure, insurance, financial services, manufacturing, metals, pharmaceuticals, real estate, retail, shipping, telecom, and workforce management.

He has led IPOs for Azad Engineering, Cyient DLM, Vijaya Diagnostic Centre, Computer Age Management Services, and Gland Pharma.

Zoomkawala had been a partner at Saraf since 2021, when the firm split from Luthra & Luthra Law Offices. He has over nine years of experience representing issuers and underwriters both equity and debt securities offerings. He has spearheaded a variety of capital market transactions, such as Rule 144 A and Regulation S equity public offerings, private placements, international and domestic debt offerings, and equity-linked offerings of exchangeable and convertible bonds.

His clients have included Carlyle Group, Interglobe Aviation, and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones.

“Vijay and Vinay's excellent reputation and market standing, especially in the Southern India market, is second to none. With their joining, our well-established capital markets practice became truly pan-India and undeniably formidable across all products in capital markets. Murtaza's experience and quality in equity and debt capital markets transactions will further strengthen our position as leaders in this domain,” said Bhakta Patnaik, head of Trilegal’s capital markets practice, in a statement.
