Spice Route Legal has hired disputes practitioner Karthik Somasundram as a partner in Mumbai from Bharucha & Partners as it looks to bolster its arbitration and dispute resolution capabilities.

With over 20 years of experience, Somasundram focuses on arbitration, litigation and mediation in areas such as TMT, IP, energy, insolvency, compliance and commercial. He has represented clients before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC). Somasundram also regularly appears before various high courts and tribunals in India, including the Supreme Court and the Bombay High Court.

“Karthik’s addition to the Spice Route Legal team marks a strategic move toward reinforcing our capabilities in dispute resolution and arbitration,” said Praveen Raju, co-founder of Spice Route Legal, in a statement.

Somasundram joined Bharucha in 2018 from Krishnamurthy & Co (K Law), where he became a partner in 2014. He was earlier at DSK Legal.

Bharucha lost two partners to Luthra & Luthra Law Offices last year: Banking and finance attorney Rohit Sharma, and disputes lawyer Shreya Sircar.
